Please Support Future Penn Staters Locally
Thomas Reissmann Endowed Scholarship
The NNJ Alumni Chapter established an endowed scholarship in 1977. This scholarship has been awarded annually to an incoming Penn State freshmen year student residing in our designated area of influence, recognizing distinguished academic achievement, character, and outstanding leadership qualities. This scholarship is administered by the university, named and formally known as the Thomas L. Reissmann Endowed Scholarship.
Our Chapter is committed to helping worthy students achieve a first class education at Penn State. With that being said, any contributions will directly impact a student’s life in our area. Any contribution to this endowment is greatly appreciated as we continue to support the future of Penn State.

Sonny Stoller Memorial Scholarship
Stanford “Sonny” Stoller was an integral part of the Alumni Chapter for over 4 decades. Through the years, Sonny was involved in countless fundraising efforts, including the annual Golf Outing, and was most well known as the raffle ticket salesman. He was a rare long-term volunteer and leader who was always there when needed and continued to work tirelessly for the students and alumni in our area.
Sonny greatly enjoyed working for the future of Penn State. For years, he served on the Scholarship Committee, spending countless hours reviewing dozens of applications to ensure each one was given ample time and consideration. In addition, he was one of our most prominent volunteers at our annual Send off Picnic.
Along with being an active Board Member for our Chapter, Sonny’s love and dedication to Penn State expanded into the Alumni Admissions Volunteer Program. For decades, he was active at College Fairs, Student Reception Programs, and the LionsRoar program. He was knowledgeable, passionate, and a true example of a Penn State alumni.
His involvement, dedication, and character has been an inspiration to all. Sonny’s service and commitment to this Chapter and Penn State was unsurpassed. In his memory, his family has established a Scholarship in his memory.
Donations can be sent to the PSU NNJ Alumni Chapter c/o Mike Cocco, Past President at 356 Franklin Avenue, Nutley, NJ 07110. Checks can be made payable to the PSU NNJ Alumni Chapter and in the memo line earmarked toward the Stoller Scholarship.
